about us

What began as an opportunity to work together as architects—a husband and wife team—has evolved into a shared passion to affect the quality of people’s lives and communities through the practice of architecture.

Sandra Vlock, AIA, LEED AP is the president and design principal at Arbonies King Vlock. Ms. Vlock is a skilled facilitator. Her passion for collaboration and community engagement helps give shape to a shared vision, identify achievable goals, and enables our clients to develop broad-based support and consensus which is essential to the success of any project. Her teaming approach creates  synergy with in the firm and entire project team to become creatively invested in the process. 

Ms. Vlock received her Bachelor of Arts in English and Art History from Cornell University and was awarded College Scholar. She received her Master of Architecture from the University of Pennsylvania and was awarded a Traveling Fellowship.

Glenn Arbonies, AIA, LEED AP is managing principal at Arbonies King Vlock. Mr. Arbonies brings a disciplined approach to project management with a deep knowledge of materials and methods of construction. This expertise is reflected in his thoughtful approach to programming, planning, and design. Mr. Arbonies was a partner with the late Charles W. Moore, FAIA and a principal at Centerbrook Architects prior to establishing Arbonies King Vlock.

Mr. Arbonies received his Bachelor of Arts and Master of Architecture degrees at Washington University in St. Louis.

In addition to collaborating as husband and wife architects, Glenn and Sandra live with their two children, Adam and Mira, on the Connecticut shoreline. Avid road, river, and trail enthusiasts they have completed two marathons together and have competed in triathlon events.

Arbonies King Vlock provides comprehensive planning, programming, architectural and interior design expertise as: museum architects, college and university architects, campus master planners, Connecticut and coastal/ waterfront residential architecture, and custom homes in unique environments.

Sandy and Glenn were the catalysts bringing ideas together. They empowered the clients to feel as if they had a hands-on part; it wasn’t perceived, it was real.
